Reflection
This year has been very exciting for me. I will admit, at first I felt as if I was obligated to take this class because I was lacking a CCTE and Art half credit, so I just thought I'd mix the two. I thought nothing more, nothing less. However, Video Production has always sparked my interest, I just didn't fully know it yet. Every summer I go to either attend or work at a Jewish summer camp in Utica, Mississippi. The last time I was there, I met a videographer named Alex Mckeen. He showed me all kinds of really cool and interesting things and I even got to be apart of his many projects throughout that summer. Then, a year later, I'm in Video 1, and man, it felt nice. I was worried at first that I would be the only upperclassmen, but when I walked in I saw Kyle Sager and it really helped me transition. Even though it seemed as if we lost focus most of the time, Kyle was definitely my motivation for this class at first. I would come in, say hey, and see what all we could accomplish in the hour we had to film. It was truly an amazing experience. This class is so interesting and unlike any others I've taken because it is so self-taught, but with such a heavy group dynamic. I know that sounds strange, but what I'm trying to say is that the opportunites to create something special in this class are endless and always available to you. Mr. Strong can be best described as a rollercoaster that just continously goes up. He welcomes you with open arms, engages in conversations about media and art and meaning, and genuiely listens and helps you understand what's going on in the class if you need be. His teaching style is one of the best in my years of scholastic experience. I feel comfortable with video and the basics, and I look forward to what the future holds next year for Video Annoucements and furhter interactions with the school that I can be a part of and record. Although at first this class was just another one to pass, it became much much more, and for that I am truly grateful.
